Investing in nature: Unlocking opportunities for the sustainable management of natural capital
This report is the second in a four-part series and follows Investing in Nature: A Key to Myanmar’s Sustainable Development, which presents the theoretical justification for investing in nature. Building upon that framework, this report considers eight economic sectors – agriculture, fisheries, forestry, livestock, wildlife, mining, transport and energy – and evaluates both the ways in which these sectors impact nature and how their productivity is affected by the degradation of nature. It aims to assess the current state of Myanmar’s natural resources through an investment lens and to demonstrate that it is possible to design an approach to economic development that protects nature while allowing for the sustainable and equitable use of Myanmar’s natural resources.
The report is directed to those who are interested in helping the people of Myanmar create a more inclusive and resilient economy.
